Ebay Sellers
April 16th, 2008 Posted in Ebay Sellers, PeopleIn general, I have not had problems with Ebay Sellers. But, every once in a while, I get a real gem.
This last time, I bought something that was extremely light weight. I paid 75 dollars for the item, $16 of it was shipping. When I received the items, I read the shipping label, because I was floored by the shipping cost. The item, when shipping is bought through USPS, would have cost $2.50 to send. Not only that, but the seller shipped it through their work’s account, at Pitney Bowes. I wonder how Pitney Bowes would have felt about knowing that their employees are using corporate mail accounts to send out their personal ebay auctions.
So, this person made me pay $16, for shipping that would have cost them $2.50, and then didn’t pay one penny to ship it out.
Now, the kicker. I gave them positive feedback, but in the feedback I left a message, “Shipping was a little too much”. They responded to my positive feedback with neutral, saying “Boo hoo, I shipped this out on a saturday, and you complained!” and “Ebay will fix this for you in May”*.
Needless to say, I will never buy from this person again, and I am more cognizant of what people are charging for shipping, versus the perceived weight of the item I am buying.
*May is when Ebay is expected to roll out their new “feature” where sellers can no longer leave feedback on buyers.
